Finishing the Foundation

The foundation work at 1724 Kalorama Rd NW continues! The construction team has poured concrete for the elevator pit (in progress in photo above). Now, they are excavating all excess dirt to level the ground floor (photo below) and are installing micropile reinforcements around the perimeter. Just a couple more months before the construction work becomes more visible and the structure starts going up!

This demolition and groundwork lays the foundation of resurrecting a building that had laid empty for nearly a decade. The completed Sitar Next Door will: increase our footprint by 50%, enable Sitar to expand our flagship arts education programs for DC youth, and permanently house ArtsAdvance, a new career training program for young adults.
